2013 Mum Parade Winners

Flips Gymnastics earned the First Place spot for Non-Musical Groups at the 2013 Bristol Mum Parade.

 

Here's the official list of winners:

Award winners for the 2013 Bristol Mum Festival Parade, held Sunday, Sept. 22 in downtown Bristol, have been announced.
FLOAT AWARDS
Mum Festival Chairperson's Award: St. Anthony School
Hometown Hero's Choice Award: Reach for the Stars Academy of Dance
Mayor's Award: St. Matthew School
Best Business Entry: Wojtusik Nursery and Garden Center
First Place, Best Youth: Mountain View School
Second Place, Best Youth: Immanuel Lutheran Church and School
Third Place, Best Youth:St. Joseph School Cub Scout Pack 22
Fourth Place, Best Youth: Bristol Boys and Girls Club
Best Use of Festival Theme, "It's Time to Bloom": The Dance Experience
Best Live Flowers: Baggott Farms
First Place, Best Community: Bristol Relay for Life
Second Place, Best Community: The Salvation Army
MARCHING AWARDS FOR MUSICAL AND NONMUSICAL UNITS
Best Overall Award, Given in Memory of Robert Bailey: Torrington High School Band
First Place, High School Band: Northwestern Regional High School
Second Place, High School Band: Lewis S. Mills High School Spartan Marching Band
Third Place, High School Band: Bristol Central High School Band
First Place, Senior Music: Connecticut Patriots Senior Ancient Drum Corps
First Place, Junior Music: Marquis of Granby Junior Ancient Fyfe and Drum Corps
First Place, Non Musical: Flips Gymnastics Center
Second Place, Non Musical: Bristol Lions Club
Third Place, Non Musical: Bristol Theatre Arts
First Place, Dance Group: Nutmeg Performing Arts Centre
Second Place, Dance Group: Dance Arts Centre
3rd Place, Dance Group: Reach for the Stars Academy of Dance
First-Place Fire Department: Bristol Fire Department
This year's parade marks the first time the Best Overall award is being given in memory of the late Robert Bailey, a longtime Mum Festival Parade organizer, judge and volunteer. Bailey, who died April 7, was also active with the fife and drum corps circuit for more than 50 years. His presence at the parade will be missed.
